Installing Dreamwidth on a Ubuntu Server

Dreamwidth is an alternative to Livejournal that uses much of the same code-base. However they is certain additional features that make this a more worthwhile product to develop even if it currently is in a beta-stage.

There were a few problems with the documentation for a standard install which I have since fixed. In short mod_perl mismatches, an SVN vs HG confusion on the boostrap, and the need to introduce a patch to cgi-bin/LJ/User.pm, cgi-bin/ljlib-local.pl and htdocs/_config.bml.

Anyway, the test result for my Dreamwidth install is now up as an ARCS service under development
